In-Home Support | Complex Mental Health | Trauma-Informed Practice
We are seeking dedicated, very confident, and resilient Youth Support Staff with proven experience in supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. This role requires the ability to work with a female client who presents with extreme behaviours and support escalations calmly and professionally.
Applicants must have strong mental health knowledge, be calm under pressure, and demonstrate confidence in managing both verbal and physical escalations. The ability to maintain professional boundaries and standards are essential to providing safe and effective support.
Previous experience with Complex PTSD (CPTSD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) are highly desired. Residential Youth Support workers highly encouraged to apply.
For some participants that are higher risk, The Energy Supplies a work vehicle for staff to use. However staff still require their car to get to and from shift.
Support Worker for Youth Clients– Sunshine Coast

Applicants must have solid mental health knowledge, be calm under pressure, and demonstrate confidence in managing both verbal and physical escalations. The ability to maintain professional boundaries and standards are essential to providing secure and effective support.
Previous experience with Complex PTSD (CPTSD),
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) are highly desired. Residential Youth Support workers highly encouraged to apply.

Setting:
- Primarily in-home support and community access, with monthly 3 night respites occuring.
- Supporting the participant as well as their family relations and dynamics within the home.
- Located Maroochydore but applicants must be willing to drive between Caloundra and Nambour
Requirements:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
- Working with Children (Blue Card)
- National Police Check
- First Aid & CPR
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Reliable vehicle
- Strong understanding of complex behaviours, addiction, and mental health
- Proven experience with extreme behaviours, escalations and therapeutic models of care
- Confidence in supporting clients and families in dynamic, sometimes high-pressure environments
Highly Desired:
- Experience in a youth residential care setting
- Highly desirable - Cert III in Individual Support or Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (students currently enrolled in Social Work, Psychology, or adjacent feilds are encouraged to apply)
- Strong mental health background and resilience under pressure
- Confidence in maintaining professional boundaries and supporting emotional regulation
- Experience with ASD and trauma-informed care
Roster:
- Recurring weekly roster designed to support consistency and prevent staff burnout (no worker rostered for more than 2–3 shifts per week per youth specific clients).
- We are seeking staff with availability Fridays 3-8pm, Saturdays 10-4pm, Sundays 10-4pm and Mondays 2-8pm with availability to take on additional shifts throughout the week were required including extended hours during respite periods.
Staff Support:
We recognise this is a demanding role and ensure strong management support, including:
- Ongoing contact with management to troubleshoot concerns and receive feedback
- Confidential supervisions available whenever required
- Monthly staff meetings and team-building activities
- Training in escalations and incident reporting
- Mentorship and guidance from senior staff
- Detailed information packs provided before buddy shifts, including safety planning, routines, and behaviour management tips
- Active monitoring for burnout and roster adjustments where needed
- 2x full length buddy shifts before commencement
- 24/7 oncall support
- Extensive safety planning and risk assessing to protect staff inline with WH&S; rights and internal policies.
