The Role

Bungree Aboriginal Association (Bungree) is an Aboriginal Community based organisation which provides a wide range of services to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As the largest Aboriginal not for profit organisation on the Central Coast, Bungree is a multi-service organisation delivering programs and services to the Central Coast, as well as parts of Newcastle and the Upper Hunter in New South Wales.

Bungree ‘s Aboriginal Family Preservation Service (AFPS) program provides intensive, culturally responsive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families who are at risk of having children removed or require support to safely reunify children and young people with their families from out-of-home care.

The program works collaboratively with families to strengthen relationships, build capacity, and support positive outcomes for children and young people. AFPS delivers confidential, ethical, respectful, and culturally protected services that prioritise the safety, wellbeing, and best interests of children and young people.

The Prospect

The Case Worker role is a core component of the program and is responsible for providing coordinated, integrated, and tailored support to children, young people, and families. The role focuses on addressing parental vulnerabilities, strengthening family capacity, and supporting children and young people to remain safe and connected within their family and community wherever possible.

Working in alignment with Bungree policies, practice frameworks, and guidelines, the Case Worker will provide high-quality,



child‑focused case management that promotes safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Apply a child‑focused, family‑centred, and strengths‑based approach to assessment, case planning, intervention, and service delivery.

Build respectful and trusting relationships with children, young people, parents, carers, families, and community networks to support engagement and positive outcomes.

Work collaboratively with families, government and non‑government services, and other professionals to ensure coordinated and integrated support.

Develop tailored case plans that address identified risks, parental vulnerabilities, and family needs.

Advocate for the needs, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people while supporting families to build capacity, resilience, and sustainable change.

Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy, dignity, and rights of children, young people, and families in accordance with legislation, organisational policies, and ethical practice standards.

Participate in regular professional supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing learning to strengthen practice capability and maintain high standards of service delivery.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills,



with the ability to communicate clearly, influence outcomes, and engage effectively across all levels of the organisation.

Qualification - Certificate IV Community Services or equivalent

Child protection experience and knowledge

Risk and Safety Assessment, Trauma Informed practice knowledge

Strong case management and planning experience

Strong understanding of cultural responsiveness and safety, with the ability to provide inclusive, respectful, and person‑centred services that recognise and value the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and needs of the communities we support

Demonstrate the ability to build trusting relationships and ensure service delivery is culturally safe, respectful, and responsive to individual circumstances.

Knowledge of relevant service providers across mainstream and other community sectors including mental health and disability providers.

Commitment to supporting people of diverse backgrounds.

Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to accurately enter, maintain, and manage information across relevant systems, databases, and online portals and completed in accordance with organisational requirements and quality standards.

Bungree is a mandatory vaccination organisation. You will be updated with your FLU SHOT and COVID‑19 vaccinations (if for medical reasons you cannot get vaccinations, please provide evidence).

National Police Check (willing to obtain).

Current Working with Children’s Check.

Valid Driver’s License
