You will be undertaking screening, assessment, planning and connection to our support services. The role answers enquiries, assesses potential participant needs, provides suicide prevention aftercare support. While there are some face-to-face meetings, most of the work is on the phone or via email. As you are working weekends, the capacity to work autonomously with confidence is essential.

About the program : The Way Back is a suicide aftercare program that provides proactive, trauma-informed support to people following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis. Working alongside participants, the program helps them build safety, strengthen connections, and access the clinical and community supports needed to support recovery and wellbeing.

Hours and location : Part-time position 26 hours per week. This is a weekend role from Friday to Monday, including public holidays. Weekend penalty rates apply

Approximately 6-7 hours per day, with adaptable start and finish times (for example, 9:00am to 4:30pm or 10:00am to 5:30pm, including a 30-minute lunch break)

Hybrid working arrangement: Combine working from home with time in our office at Binna Burra, near Bangalow

This role may suit university students or anyone seeking meaningful part-time work with flexibility and weekend availability.

This position is funded until 30 June 2027, with strong potential for extension as part of our expanding community services

$$$: This role will be remunerated at SCHCDS Level4$46-50ph with access to salary packaging to potentially increase your take home pay by another 5k.

University level qualifications or higher in an AOD, Social work, psychology, or Mental Health field.

Current driver's licence, a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.

Demonstrated knowledge of mental health including suicide prevention aftercare

An understanding of intake and assessment role requirements with demonstrated ability to engage effectively with participants in crisis and provide appropriate trauma-informed support
