As a Cremator Operator at Mountain View Crematoria, you’ll play a key part in ensuring every family’s final goodbye is carried out with the utmost dignity and respect.

Your day-to-day will involve the careful operation and maintenance of cremation equipment, transporting coffins into our care with sensitivity and professionalism, and keeping our facilities—including the cremation areas and vehicle fleet—clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cremation Process:

- Operate cremation equipment in a safe, efficient, and respectful manner.
- Monitor the cremation process, ensuring proper procedures are followed from start to finish.
- Accurately identify and track remains to ensure proper documentation and avoid errors.

2. Equipment Maintenance:

- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of cremation machinery to ensure it remains in good working condition.
- Report and address any mechanical issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols.

3. Documentation and Compliance:

- Complete and maintain accurate records of all cremations, including required paperwork and logs.




- Ensure adherence to all state, local, and federal regulations governing cremation.
- Comply with environmental and emissions standards during the cremation process.
- Handle remains with utmost care, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
- Prepare remains for cremation and process ashes for return to families or other specified arrangements.
- Follow strict identification protocols to ensure accuracy.

5. Communication:

- Liaise with funeral home staff and other stakeholders to coordinate cremation services.
- Address any questions or concerns from families or team members with sensitivity and professionalism.

6. Facility Maintenance:

- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cremation facility.
- Ensure the facility is a safe and professional environment for staff and visitors.

Qualifications and Skills:

- High school certificate or equivalent; additional certification or training in cremation or funeral services is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures.
- Physical ability to handle equipment and perform tasks such as lifting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a respectful and compassionate manner, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical considerations (or willingness to learn).
- Work is conducted in a cremation facility, with exposure to high temperatures and machinery.
- Requires day & evening or weekend shifts based on service demands.
