About the role

We are looking for a seasonal Ranger to assist the North Port Phillip Maritime Ranger team based at Williamstown.As a seasonal Ranger, you will be responsible for contributing to the management of the local Port of Port Phillip, including 10 high visitation piers and jetties, navigation aids, terrestrial parks as well as stakeholder engagement, delivery of junior ranger programs and opportunity to assist the marine team with Marine Protected Area surveys.

This role is diverse, no two days are the same and will often involve manual outdoor field duties such as asset repairs to be carried out on a daily, weekly or regular basis in all conditions, as well as on-water vessel patrols.



Candidates should have a reasonable level of fitness and health and without significant medical issues that will prevent undertaking the inherent tasks of a field based Ranger.You will demonstrate a strong personal work ethic and actively participate and contribute to a energetic and supportive team environment

We're looking for someone with:

- Experience in customer service with good interpersonal skills and ability to confidently engage with visitors
- Demonstrated experience in self-motivation, time management and working autonomously
- Good manual handling skills in a range of asset maintenance tasks and practical use of tools and equipment
- Completion or progress in a Conservation & Land Management qualification or similar would be an advantage
- Coxswains certificate desirable
- Available to work on weekends and public holidays. (Min 10 weekend days over the 3-month term).
- An interest and passion for environmental conservation, park management and providing quality visitor facilities.
