At St Brigid’s Primary School, the Pastoral Care Worker will support students through the form of individual sessions or group work. The Pastoral Care Worker will collaborate with families and teachers to ensure that children are supported in a holistic approach. The Pastoral Care Worker will oversee, implement and coordinate programs that focus on supporting and empowering students.

Salary and conditions are implemented according to the CEMEA (ranging from ESB Level 2 – Level 4) and will be determined based on qualifications and expertise of the successful applicant.

The successful applicant will:

- have a demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and to the safety and wellbeing of children;

- embrace a collegial, team-based approach;

- be appropriately qualified, demonstrate enthusiasm and ability in the field of Pastoral Care Work;

- commit to regular, ongoing professional development.

Background, Qualifications and Requirements:

- qualifications in Social Work/Welfare/Counselling;

- professional counselling experience;

- awareness of the ethical and legal issues involved in the role of Pastoral Care Worker within a school environment;

- current membership, or be eligible to be a member, of relevant professional association (e.g. AHPRA/AASW);

- Working with Children Check and a National Police Record Check.

Role Description:

The successful applicant will:

- be familiar with and comply with our school's child-safe policy and code of conduct,



and all other policies or procedures relating to child safety;

- demonstrate a strong commitment to the Catholic ethos and Catholic Identity of our school;

- demonstrate knowledge, skills and qualifications suited to working in the role of Pastoral Care;

- be able to provide care and support for students whilst supporting and respecting the ethos of our school and its setting;

- provide counselling for students;

- collaborate with families and teachers to ensure that children are supported in a holistic approach;

- oversee, implement and coordinate programs that focus on supporting and empowering students;

- oversee and implement an internal referral process;

- demonstrate a professional standard of practice in line with the AASW/AHPRA;

- liaise with the leadership team regarding Pastoral Care matters;

- maintains digital professional records in accordance with legislative requirements.
