Le Meridien is seeking a talented and passionate Food & Beverage Assistant Manager to join our dynamic team at our Melbourne VIC 3000 location. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining and beverage experiences to our guests. As Assistant Manager, you will support the Food & Beverage Manager in overseeing all aspects of our food and beverage operations, from restaurant and bar management to banqueting services. This position is instrumental in maintaining Le Meridien's reputation for excellence in hospitality and ensuring that every guest interaction reflects our commitment to quality and service.
Key responsibilities
Supervise and manage food and beverage staff, including training, scheduling, performance management and day-to-day operational oversight
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and service across all dining outlets and events
Monitor food safety, hygiene and compliance with relevant health and safety regulations
Assist in the management of inventory, stock control and the ordering of food and beverage supplies
Support the planning and execution of special events, banquets and private functions
Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional customer service and address guest complaints professionally and promptly
Assist with strategies to optimise profitability
Monitor food and beverage costs and contribute to achieving departmental budgets and revenue targets
Collaborate with other departments, including housekeeping and reception, to ensure seamless guest experiences
Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards throughout all food and beverage areas
What we're looking for
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in food and beverage management or a similar supervisory role within hospitality
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
Comprehensive knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices and relevant legislation
Excellent customer service skills and a genuine passion for hospitality
Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and hospitality management software
Robust communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with guests and colleagues
Ability to multitask, prioritise effectively and remain calm under pressure
Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing operational challenges
Knowledge of beverage service, including wine and cocktail offerings, is advantageous
Relevant qualifications such as RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) and Food Safety Certificates are desirable
