Assistant Director-Generals are senior leaders within ASIS responsible for strategically leading their function to deliver on key organisational objectives. The role of Assistant Director-General Operations requires an ability to thrive in a demanding and high-pressure workplace, to manage a range of capabilities and resources and to enable the delivery of successful operational outcomes in response to priority government requirements.

AIS is Australia's foreign intelligence collection agency. We collect and distribute secret foreign intelligence, information which would be otherwise unavailable to Australia, to protect Australia and its interests.

We obtain this intelligence from foreign sources, outside Australia's borders. To do this, we rely on what we call "human intelligence" - information that comes directly from people.
