What you'll do
As the Assistant Director of Midwifery, you will provide strategic leadership and professional governance to advance midwifery practice across Queensland Health, ensuring the delivery of safe, evidence-based and woman-centred maternity care. You will lead statewide initiatives that strengthen professional standards, workforce capability, clinical governance, education, research and service innovation, while contributing to the development and implementation of policies, frameworks and models of care that support contemporary midwifery practice. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, you will provide expert advice on complex professional and clinical matters, influence strategic decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across maternity services. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of the midwifery profession through leadership, mentoring, workforce development, research translation and the promotion of excellence in clinical practice, education and professional governance at a state and national level.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Experience in quality and safety, midwifery governance, health management, policy development and/or professional education and training.
- Ability to distil expertise and intelligence from clinical and professional stakeholders to actively inform and contribute to state-wide priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and priority set complex issues, in a highly visible and politically sensitive sector,
including the ability to report to the Director of Midwifery and or departmental leaders including CNMO on midwifery and maternity skilled issues.
- Ability to develop high level reports, briefs and strategic responses as required.
