Program: Early Intervention Homestay / Housing & Homelessness
Tradewind Australia is seeking an experienced Crisis Support Worker to join a frontline Housing & Homelessness program supporting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
This role provides end-to-end support to clients engaged in the Homestay program , with a strong focus on helping people overcome barriers to housing and establish and maintain successful tenancies .
This is an opportunity to provide meaningful, practical support to clients while helping them secure and sustain safe, stable housing . Working across an outreach-based Homestay program, you will support clients from intake through to exit, helping them build the skills, confidence and connections, and move towards greater independence.
About the role
You will work closely with clients to understand their circumstances, identify barriers to stable housing and provide holistic, client-centred, individualised support to help them achieve sustainable housing outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide end-to-end support from client intake through to exit
- Support clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Help clients secure, establish and maintain stable tenancies
- Identify barriers impacting a client's ability to obtain or sustain housing
- Provide practical support around tenancy rights, responsibilities and obligations
- Apply a strong understanding of relevant Queensland residential tenancy legislation to support clients and provide accurate tenancy advice
- Assist clients to understand their tenancy agreements, requirements and responsibilities
- Develop and review individualised case management plans
- Provide advocacy,
information and referrals to relevant housing and community services
- Support clients with budgeting, goal setting and developing independent living skills
- Connect clients with services that can address broader needs impacting housing stability
- Monitor client progress and respond to changing risks or circumstances
- Maintain accurate case notes, records and relevant homelessness service databases
- Work collaboratively with housing providers, community services and other professionals
- Support clients to build their independence and capacity to sustain their accommodation
About you
We are looking for a compassionate & experienced community services professional with a strong understanding of homelessness, housing and tenancy support and the ability to build trust and work confidently with clients experiencing complex circumstances. can with clients.
- Previous experience in homelessness, housing, tenancy support, crisis support or case management
- Robust working knowledge of Queensland residential tenancy legislation and tenancy rights and obligations
- The ability to interpret and explain tenancy requirements clearly to clients
- Experience supporting people experiencing barriers to obtaining or maintaining stable housing
- Strong understanding of client-centred and strengths-based support
- Excellent communication, advocacy and relationship-building skills
- Strong case-management, organisation and documentation skills
- The ability to maintain professional boundaries while building trusting relationships
- The ability to work independently and as part of a broader team
Essential
- Police Check
- A current Queensland driver's licence
- Strong working knowledge of Queensland residential tenancy legislation and tenancy rights and obligationsn
- Certificate III in Community Services or a related qualification
