Project Information
ACCIONA, as part of the ActivUs Alliance, is delivering the major rail works package for the $5.75 billion Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project. Works include doubling rail tracks from two to four between Kuraby and Beenleigh, station upgrades and level crossing removals. This landmark project will boost network capacity and help prepare Queensland for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
About the Opportunity
As First Nations Engagement Lead, you will implement the Indigenous Engagement Strategy for the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project, reporting to the Communications & Engagement Manager. You will build and maintain meaningful relationships with local Indigenous communities, Elders and organisations, ensuring adherence to Native Title Laws, Cultural Heritage Management Plans and Indigenous Participation Plans. You will drive workforce and business participation goals for Indigenous inclusion, facilitate procurement opportunities for Indigenous-owned businesses, and act as primary liaison between Indigenous groups and the project team, guiding the broader Environment and Construction teams on cultural sensitivities and engagement practice.
Key accountabilities for the position will be:
- Implement the Indigenous Engagement Strategy across the project
- Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities and Elders
- Ensure adherence to Native Title Laws and Cultural Heritage Management Plans
- Achieve workforce and business participation goals for Indigenous inclusion
- Facilitate contracts and procurement opportunities for Indigenous businesses
- Monitor, evaluate and report on engagement performance metrics
- Advise project teams on cultural sensitivities and heritage matters
Required Skills and Competencies
What capability and experience will you need to have:
- Degree or post-graduate qualification in Business Administration, Communications, Human Resources, Indigenous Studies or related field (desirable)
- Extensive experience in Indigenous employment, training and community engagement
- Experience in social procurement and supplier diversity
- Experience implementing Cultural Heritage Management Plans and Indigenous Participation Plans
- Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities and stakeholders
