About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance function at our industrial laundry facility in Gepps Cross.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for maintenance team performance, safe work practices and equipment reliability. You will lead by example, setting clear expectations and following through on safety, workmanship and accountability.

This role suits a practical leader who can develop people, organise workloads and balance preventative maintenance with breakdown response in a busy production environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, supervise and coach the maintenance team, allocate work clearly and hold team members accountable for safe, timely and quality outcomes.
- Lead by example in safety, behavior and work standards. Address unsafe practices immediately and stop work where risks are not adequately controlled.
- Ensure risk assessments and Take 5 checks, isolation and lockout procedures, appropriate access equipment and required permits are in place before maintenance work begins.
- Plan and schedule preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs, prioritising tasks by safety risk,



equipment condition and production needs.
- Manage daily workloads, shutdowns and contractor activities, setting realistic timeframes and communicating progress or delays to the Plant Manager and production team.
- Oversee fault finding, repairs and servicing of continuous batch washers, dryers, ironer lines, conveyors, compressors and pumps, providing hands‑on support when required.
- Investigate recurring breakdowns and implement improvements that reduce downtime and improve reliability and plant efficiency.
- Maintain accurate work orders and maintenance records by using our bespoke CMMS program, manage spare parts and control maintenance expenditure.
- Ensure contractors and team members are competent and appropriately qualified for their assigned work and maintain good housekeeping in maintenance areas.

About You

You are an organised, approachable leader who takes ownership, communicates clearly and follows through. You understand that safe work and a well‑supported team are essential to reliable production.

- Proven experience leading a maintenance team in an industrial, manufacturing or processing environment.
- A relevant mechanical,



electrical or engineering trade qualification, or equivalent technical qualification appropriate to the role.
- Strong safety leadership, with the confidence to challenge unsafe behavior and consistently enforce protected work practices.
- Effective people management skills, including coaching, delegation, setting expectations and addressing performance concerns.
- Excellent time management and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and remain calm during breakdowns.
- Strong technical fault‑finding skills and experience with industrial machinery, mechanical systems and pneumatics.
- Clear written and verbal communication, sound computer skills and experience using maintenance management systems.
- A practical, hands‑on approach and willingness to lead by example rather than manage solely from the office.

Experience in industrial laundry, food manufacturing or similar production environments will be viewed favorably. Flexibility to support maintenance outside normal hours, including some weekend work, is required.
