As we continue to expand our product range across 4WD, performance, commercial and marine markets, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Research & Development Manager to lead the next generation of product innovation.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on automotive professional who enjoys problem‑solving, product design, prototyping and bringing new concepts to market.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Director, you will be responsible for driving Torqit's research and development activities from concept through to production.
You will work closely with our sales, production and marketing teams to identify opportunities, develop current products and continuously improve existing offerings.
The ideal candidate will have strong automotive knowledge, fabrication skills and the ability to think creatively while maintaining a practical, solutions‑focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Torqit's Research & Development division.
- Identify and develop new product opportunities across 4WD, performance and marine markets.
- Design, prototype and test new products and systems.
- Conduct market and competitor research.
- Collaborate with customers, dealers and industry partners to gather product feedback.
- Work alongside production to ensure products are efficient to manufacture.
- Manage product testing, validation and continuous improvement programs.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and product specifications.
- Assist with installation, fabrication and development of prototype vehicles and systems.
- Support intellectual property and product innovation initiatives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Previous experience within the automotive industry.
- Strong fabrication and welding skills.
- Experience working with exhaust systems, performance products, fabrication or vehicle accessories would be highly regarded.
- Mechanical aptitude and a passion for automotive innovation.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- A positive, energetic and can‑do attitude.
- A commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail.
