Assistant Director - Industry Engagement
Full-time Temporary with a Possibility of Permanency
Details : Infrastructure Canberra (iCBR) is seeking a suitably qualified collaborative, people focussed person for the role of Assistant Director, Industry Engagement to play a key role in identifying partnerships and collaboration opportunities between government and industry.
The Strategy and Industry Engagement Branch sits within the People, Engagement and Operations Division. The Branch focuses on strengthening iCBR's relationships with industry, helping to build a more collaborative, transparent and outcome focussed infrastructure sector that delivers sustainable infrastructure outcomes for the Canberra community. The Branch's core work supports a cohesive, connected and consistent approach to industry engagement. The Branch coordinates engagement between senior ICBR staff with a variety of industry groups including peak bodies, community groups and educational groups. It is also the coordination point for a number of engagement strategies, policies and processes. The Branch supports industry engagement activities, including:
- identifying and coordinating opportunities for collaboration and partnerships
- providing secretariat support for industry meetings
- raising specific issues for progress with relevant areas of iCBR
- providing industry with information and advice on the government infrastructure settings, policies and legislation
- working with peak bodies and educational institutions to find opportunities and promote workforce capability, diversity and growth
- promoting discussion and thinking within iCBR on best practice principles in industry engagement.
The Branch also has a role in monitoring and evaluating the benefits realised from industry engagement, incorporating lessons learned and ensuring industry inquiries and effectively and appropriately managed.
The Branch is currently working on a refresh of its current Industry Engagement Plan so that it acknowledges and identifies the wide range of industry engagement activities occurring within iCBR and provides measurable actions that provide support for staff to undertake purposeful and outcomes driven engagement.
What you will be doing
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will support the Senior Director to:
- manage the arrangements for the Infrastructure Canberra Conference in October 2026
- refresh policies and processes on Sponsorship and Memberships
- find, promote and progress strategic opportunities for collaboration and partnership between iCBR and industry, peak bodies and educational institutions
- coordinate and provide secretariat support for strategic stakeholder meetings and fora
- manage updates to industry via a quarterly newsletter
- establish systems, processes and ways of working that promote consistency, accountability, quality and alignment across all of iCBR's industry engagement initiatives.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements: You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders and the ideal candidate will have excellent relationship and problem-solving skills, will be able to communicate with influence, work collaboratively, think strategically and will be a self-starter with the ability to drive and deliver on outcomes. You will be able to manage competing priorities in a setting which is often agile. We are looking for someone who has judgement, tact and sensitivity and is able to independently progress and deliver on outcomes.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 31 March 2027 with the possibility of permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.
