This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027 Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a highly motivated, innovative and accomplished educational leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Head of Learning Area – English. Willetton SHS is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, with a student population in excess of 2700, approximately 230 teaching staff and 145 support staff on campus. The Role

The successful applicant will provide purposeful and strategic leadership to a large and diverse English team, building collective capability and a strong culture of collaboration, reflection and continuous improvement. They will combine exemplary instructional leadership with effective management of the learning area to maximise the engagement, progress and achievement of all students. As Head of Learning Area – English, you will play an important role in progressing the priorities of the Willetton SHS Business Plan and the school's ongoing improvement agenda. You will lead high-quality, evidence-informed teaching and learning practices and contribute to the continued development of the school's Quality Teaching and Learning Framework, aligned with the Department's Quality Teaching Strategy and Teaching for Impact. You will ideally demonstrate strong curriculum and pedagogical leadership, with a comprehensive understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, senior secondary pathways, assessment and contemporary English teaching practice. You will lead approaches that support effective differentiation and appropriately challenging learning experiences across the full continuum of student needs and pathways. Using student achievement, progress and engagement evidence, you will identify improvement priorities and translate these into effective learning-area and classroom practices. Through coaching, observation, feedback, skilled learning and collaborative inquiry, you will build teacher capability and foster collective responsibility for improving student outcomes. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team,



you will contribute to whole-school improvement and work collaboratively with the Principal, Executive and other school leaders. You will lead and support change, develop the leadership capacity of others, promote the school's vision of Give, Guide, Grow, and model our values of Respect, Care and Excellence. We are seeking a leader who combines strategic thinking, strong relational leadership and effective implementation; someone who can inspire and support others, establish high expectations and build the collective capability required to achieve excellent outcomes for all students.

Eligibility
