About the Role

We are proud to be a new Australian Department of Defence partner, offering career opportunities to support the delivery of Property and Asset Services across South Australia and the Northern Territory.

We have an chance for a HSE Business Partner to join our Defence division and support with this long-term contract of an initial 6 year term. This will be offered as a permanent full time role based out of Larrakeyah Precinct, supported by a team of Operations and HSE professionals.

About the role

You will support and coach managers and workers to help them understand and meet their HSE responsibilities. You will be a role model, keeping HSE at the heart of everything you do.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Helping teams apply Critical Safety Controls (CSC’s) for high-risk tasks and supporting continuous improvement using learning-based safety principles (SCLP).
- Being visible on-site, leading by example, and engaging teams using the Walk, Talk, Lead, Care (WTLC) approach.
- Making sure teams and subcontractors understand what’s expected of them for safety by using PQRST conversations.
- Completing spot checks and site visits to see how safety processes are working and reinforcing safe/workplace behaviours.
- Helping to review incidents to find the real causes and fix systems, not just symptoms.
- Coaching teams on HSE basics like toolbox talks, inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Leading improvement projects by bringing in new ideas, tools, and better ways of working.

About you

- Experience in Health and Safety, preferably within infrastructure, construction, mining, defence or similar environments.
- Working knowledge of Legislation, Standards and Codes and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001/AS/NZS 4801 and the Office of the Federal HSE Commissioner (OFSC).
- Experience managing HSE requirements on major engineering or construction projects, with a strong track record in working effectively with project contractors would be highly desirable.
- Relevant qualifications in WHS or equivalent.
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence and the ability to travel to multiple sites as required.
- You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
