Mingaletta is a respected Aboriginal community-controlled organisation serving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on the Woy Woy Peninsula and across the wider Central Coast.
Created by community in 2002, Mingaletta is a culturally protected meeting place, service hub, advocate and community connector. We support community through programs, partnerships, cultural activities, referrals, youth engagement and community development.
Our vision is to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and strengthen cultural identity and connection. We work alongside community members, Elders, government agencies, community organisations and the Barang Regional Alliance to create positive outcomes for current and future generations.
After many years of dedicated leadership, our long-serving General Manager is moving into retirement. The Board is now seeking the next leader to guide Mingaletta into its next chapter.

The role
Reporting to the Board,
the General Manager leads Mingaletta strategically and operationally. You will work with the Board to deliver the Strategic Plan 2025–2028 and keep Mingaletta trusted, sustainable and community-led.
You will:
- Lead strategy and governance: drive the Strategic Plan, advise the Board on governance, risk and compliance, prepare Board papers and annual reports, and ensure compliance with the CATSI Act and funding agreements.
- Lead with community: build solid relationships with community members, Elders and partners, keep Mingaletta a welcoming and culturally safe hub, and represent Mingaletta at local, regional and state forums.
- Grow financial sustainability: secure grant, philanthropic and partnership funding, oversee applications and acquittals, monitor budgets with the Treasurer and external financial providers, and explore new revenue and community enterprise opportunities.
- Oversee programs and services: coordinate community programs and events, strengthen partnerships across health, wellbeing, culture, education and employment, and evaluate outcomes.
- Lead people: support staff and volunteers, foster a positive and culturally safe workplace, lead workforce and succession planning, and create pathways for emerging Aboriginal leaders.
- Manage facilities and operations: oversee facilities, assets, policies and records, and maintain productive relationships with Central Coast Council on premises and infrastructure.
- What success looks like by June 2028: a stronger funding base, expanded programs and services, growing community participation and membership, a healthy volunteer and workforce pipeline, stronger governance, and a secure long-term future for Mingaletta's facilities.
About you
You are a values-driven leader who understands community-controlled organisations and can balance strategy, relationships and day-to-day operations.
Essential
- Senior leadership experience in community development, business management or not-for-profit management
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and community engagement
- Knowledge of governance obligations under the CATSI Act and experience working with a Board of Directors
- A track record of securing funding through grants, tenders, sponsorships or philanthropy
- Strong financial management, budgeting and reporting skills
- Proven ability to build productive relationships with Aboriginal communities, government, community organisations and funders
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience leading staff, volunteers and community-based initiatives
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment
Desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in business, community services, social sciences, management, governance or a related field
- Knowledge of the Central Coast Aboriginal community and local service landscape
- Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO)
The successful applicant will need a current National Police Check, a NSW Working with Children Check and a current driver's licence.
This is an identified position . Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as such and be accepted by their community. Confirmation of Aboriginality will be required.
