Risk and Compliance - Controls Assurance| Hybrid anywhere in Aus

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Privacy Assurance / Compliance Consultant to join a leading organisation on a short-term project.

This is a hands-on role focused on assessing the design and operating effectiveness of privacy controls across Australian and international privacy obligations. You will be responsible for completing privacy controls testing, reviewing supporting evidence, identifying gaps and developing practical recommendations to strengthen the privacy control environment.

Key responsibilities

- Review existing privacy obligations and control mappings
- Perform design and operating effectiveness assessments
- Conduct evidence-based controls testing and sample reviews
- Review policies, processes and supporting documentation
- Engage with stakeholders to validate findings and understand processes
- Identify meaningful control gaps and improvement opportunities
- Develop practical remediation recommendations
- Prepare detailed findings and assurance reporting
- Support the development of management actions and remediation timelines

We are looking for an experienced privacy, risk, compliance or assurance professional with:

- Strong knowledge of Australian privacy legislation and APPs
- Hands-on experience conducting privacy compliance or controls assurance reviews
- Proven experience assessing design and operating effectiveness
- Strong understanding of evidence-based testing and sampling
- Experience developing findings, recommendations and remediation actions
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and report-writing skills
- Ability to work independently and quickly understand an established control setting

Highly desirable:

- Experience with EU GDPR
- Experience with Canadian privacy legislation, particularly PIPEDA and/or Quebec Law 25
- Experience within a regulated, financial services, healthcare or similarly complex environment
