Manager - Family Law Information Sharing Program

SAPOL's Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Service provides support in the investigation of crime which by reason of seriousness, public expectation, expertise or resource requirements is beyond the capacity of Local Service Areas and Districts.

The Public Protection Branch (PPB) provides centralised management, coordination and support for a SAPOL's response to family and domestic violence; sexual crime investigation (contact and online offences); vulnerable victims (including elderly abuse); child sex offenders; child protection; multi-agency protection initiatives; and high-risk offender management.

Participation in the Family Law Information Sharing Program (FLIS) is SAPOL's contribution to a Commonwealth information sharing initiative between the federal family law system and the state agencies responsible for family safety and child welfare. The initiative improves the timeliness and quality of information sharing, facilitate more collaborative inter-jurisdictional working arrangements and enhances the identification and management of family safety risks.

The FLIS Project Manager (Project Manager) is responsible for the management of SAPOL's FLIS, and is based within the Family and Domestic Violence Section. The Project Manager is responsible for the preparation and distribution of an information sharing product, that is released as evidence to better inform judicial officers of any historical and contemporary risks relevant to family and child safety. This process assists judicial officers with risk management while ensuring information release is appropriate and does not compromise investigations or other sensitive police activity.

The Project Manager represents SAPOL on a range of national reference groups, stakeholder committees and project evaluation groups, and is required to develop and maintain robust relationships with a range of stakeholders from federal and state agencies as well as judicial officers and court officials across Australia.

The Project Manager works closely with Federal Court officials including justices, judges, registrars and family consultants in order to facilitate a more collaborative approach to managing risk and safety of families in the family law system, which entails both the provision of information to the Federal Court, and management of processes to request and receive information from the Federal Court and disseminate appropriately within SAPOL.

The Project Manager is responsible for the preparation of periodic reports (milestone reports) to the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department (AGD) as required by the Commonwealth funding agreement.
