You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to identify and manage privacy risks, provide practical guidance and support the organisation in meeting its obligations under Australian privacy legislation.

With privacy requirements continuing to evolve, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of the organisation's privacy framework while managing day-to-day privacy matters across a complex and highly regulated setting.

The Role

You will be involved across a broad range of privacy matters, including:

- Managing and responding to privacy incidents, including matters involving sensitive and health information.

- Supporting the assessment, investigation and documentation of potential privacy breaches.

- Conducting and supporting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) across new and existing projects, systems, processes and initiatives.

- Maintaining privacy registers, records and supporting documentation.

- Advising internal stakeholders on privacy obligations and the appropriate handling, use, storage and disclosure of personal information.

- Supporting compliance with the Privacy Act and broader Australian privacy requirements.

- Identifying privacy risks and assisting the business to implement appropriate controls and remediation measures.

- Supporting the development, review and implementation of privacy policies, procedures and governance frameworks.

- Monitoring changes to privacy legislation and assisting the organisation to respond to evolving regulatory requirements.

- Supporting privacy reporting and the escalation of significant matters through appropriate governance channels.

- Working collaboratively with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Technology and operational teams on privacy-related matters.

- Promoting privacy awareness and supporting education and training across the organisation.

About You

You will have demonstrated experience working in privacy, data protection, risk, compliance or a related governance workplace, together with:

- Strong working knowledge of Australian privacy legislation and regulatory requirements.

- Experience managing privacy incidents and supporting breach response processes.

- Experience conducting or contributing to Privacy Impact Assessments.

- An understanding of privacy governance, risk management and compliance frameworks.

- The ability to interpret privacy obligations and provide clear, practical guidance to stakeholders.

- Robust written communication and documentation skills.

- Confidence working with stakeholders across different levels and functions of an organisation.

- Strong judgement and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.

- A proactive and collaborative approach to identifying and managing privacy risk.

Experience within healthcare or another highly regulated environment, particularly involving sensitive or health information, will be highly regarded.

This is an excellent opportunity for a privacy professional looking to take ownership of a varied portfolio of work and contribute to the continued development of privacy capability within a complex organisation.
