We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to support a major capital delivery portfolio within a large public-sector infrastructure organisation.
This is a senior commercial role responsible for managing the full contracting lifecycle, from tendering and procurement through to contract close-out. You will provide strategic commercial advice to project and corporate stakeholders, manage complex contractual matters and help deliver robust commercial outcomes across major infrastructure projects.
Working with a range of internal teams and external contractors, you will play a key role in contract negotiations, claims and variations, supplier performance, governance and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Manage contracts and tenders across a portfolio of major capital delivery projects
- Lead procurement activities for contractors and suppliers
- Prepare, manage and issue expressions of interest and requests for tender
- Analyse tender responses and provide commercial and contractual advice to project teams
- Develop commercial models and negotiate contracts with tenderers and service providers
- Review and tailor Australian Standard contracts and framework agreements in partnership with legal and procurement teams
- Assess complex contractor claims, invoices, variations and extensions of time
- Negotiate and resolve contractual matters, claims and disputes
- Monitor contractor and supplier performance and associated reporting requirements
- Ensure contractual activities comply with relevant legislation, policies and government requirements
- Work closely with legal, procurement, finance, insurance and project stakeholders
- Drive improvements to contract management processes, procedures and governance
- Provide high-quality reporting and commercial analysis to support project and business decisions
About You:
You will be an experienced contracts and commercial professional with a strong background working across complex infrastructure, engineering or similarly high-value projects.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience managing complex government or private-sector framework contracts
- Advanced contract management experience within significant engineering, infrastructure or similar projects
- Strong experience analysing, interpreting and negotiating contractual conditions
- Experience managing complex claims, variations, extensions of time or contractual disputes
- Experience in procurement and tendering, including evaluation and negotiation
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- A sound understanding of relevant legislation, governance and compliance requirements
- Highly developed analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to influence and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, contractors and service providers
- The confidence to have challenging commercial conversations and negotiate positive outcomes
- A tertiary qualification in engineering, law, finance, project management, quantity surveying or a related discipline is highly regarded
