We are seeking an experienced and passionate Nominated Supervisor | Centre Director & Educational Leader to take a key leadership role in the operation, compliance, educational direction and ongoing growth of our service.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced early childhood professional who is passionate about quality, compliance, leadership and creating a culture where children, families and educators feel valued, supported and empowered.
About the Role
As the Nominated Supervisor, Centre Director and Educational Leader, you will provide strong operational, regulatory and educational leadership across the service.
You will work closely with the Approved Provider to ensure the service operates in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, National Quality Standard, Early Years Learning Framework and relevant NSW requirements.
You will be responsible for leading a professional team, maintaining high standards of compliance and practice, developing strong relationships with families and ensuring the educational program reflects the individual needs, interests and strengths of every child.
This role requires a confident leader who can balance compliance, people leadership, educational excellence and day-to-day service operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Service Operations
Provide strong day-to-day leadership and management of the service.
Act as the Nominated Supervisor and ensure the service operates in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and regulatory requirements.
Work collaboratively with the Approved Provider to achieve the service’s strategic, operational and compliance objectives.
Lead, mentor and support educators and staff to achieve high-quality outcomes for children.
Develop a positive, professional and accountable workplace culture.
Manage staffing, rostering, team performance and operational requirements.
Support effective recruitment, induction, onboarding and ongoing staff development.
Monitor the overall presentation, safety, cleanliness and functionality of the service.
Build a culture of continuous improvement, professionalism and shared responsibility.
Compliance & Quality
Maintain strong knowledge and understanding of the National Law, National Regulations and National Quality Standard.
Ensure policies, procedures and practices are consistently implemented across the service.
Maintain compliance with staffing, supervision, ratios, qualifications, health and safety requirements.
Oversee required documentation, records, registers and compliance processes.
Monitor incidents, accidents, hazards,
risk assessments and relevant follow-up actions.
Ensure children’s health, safety, wellbeing and protection remain the highest priority.
Lead preparation for regulatory visits, assessments and ratings and compliance reviews.
Identify areas for improvement and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
Lead and maintain the service’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) in consultation with educators, children and families.
Promote a strong culture of compliance where educators understand not only what must be done, but why it matters.
Educational Leadership
Undertake the responsibilities of the Educational Leader for the service.
Provide pedagogical leadership and mentoring to educators.
Support educators to plan, implement, document and evaluate meaningful learning experiences.
Ensure the educational program reflects the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard.
Promote play-based learning and intentional teaching practices.
Support educators to develop strong observations, learning documentation and reflective practices.
Guide educators in identifying children’s strengths, interests, goals and learning outcomes.
Encourage critical reflection and continuous improvement of educational practice.
Ensure the educational program is inclusive, culturally responsive and responsive to individual children’s needs.
Support the development of a strong school readiness and transition-to-school approach.
Develop warm, respectful and trusting relationships with children and families.
Promote meaningful family engagement and two-way communication.
Respond professionally and effectively to family enquiries, feedback and concerns.
Support an inclusive environment that respects diversity, culture, identity and individual circumstances.
Build positive relationships with the local community and relevant external professionals.
Advocate for children’s rights, wellbeing, safety and learning.
Team Leadership & Professional Development
Provide regular mentoring, coaching and professional support to educators.
Identify professional development needs and contribute to the service’s professional development planning.
Facilitate team meetings, reflective discussions and educational planning.
Support educators to understand their roles and responsibilities under the National Law, Regulations and NQS.
Promote effective communication, teamwork and accountability.
Address performance and practice concerns professionally and in accordance with organisational processes.
Recognise and celebrate staff contributions and achievements.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an experienced confident, passionate and highly organised early childhood leader who demonstrates:
A recognised Early Childhood Teaching or Diploma qualification relevant to the role.
Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within an early childhood education and care service.
Solid understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.
Strong understanding of the National Quality Standard and EYLF.
Demonstrated experience in compliance, quality improvement and service operations.
Experience leading and mentoring an early childhood team.
Strong knowledge of educational programming, planning and documentation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards.
A proactive and solutions-focused approach to leadership.
Strong understanding of children’s health, safety, wellbeing and safeguarding responsibilities.
Commitment to inclusion, diversity and culturally responsive practice.
Ability to build positive and professional relationships with families, educators and external stakeholders.
A genuine passion for achieving positive outcomes for children.
Relevant approved early childhood qualification.
Current NSW Working With Children Check clearance.
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications, as required.
Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework.
Demonstrated leadership experience within an early childhood setting.
Ability to meet the requirements of the Nominated Supervisor role.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
