Our client, Warrior Fabrication is seeking a skilled and experienced Welder to join its growing fabrication team in Campbellfield, Victoria.
Tasks Include:
- Perform MIG, ARC and other appropriate welding processes to fabricate, assemble and repair steel and metal components for the company’s fabrication projects.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, specifications and measurements to determine fabrication and welding requirements.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape and prepare metal sections, plates and components using appropriate fabrication and cutting equipment.
- Position, align, clamp and assemble metal components prior to welding to ensure correct dimensions and structural alignment.
- Weld structural frames, brackets, supports, assemblies and other custom-fabricated metal components in accordance with job specifications.
- Repair damaged, worn or defective metal components by removing affected sections, preparing surfaces and welding replacement or reinforcement sections.
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for accuracy, strength, penetration, alignment and overall workmanship.
- Grind, clean and finish welded joints and fabricated surfaces to achieve the required finish and prepare completed components for installation or further processing.
- Operate welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, drills and other workshop fabrication tools safely and effectively.
- Select suitable welding techniques, consumables and equipment settings according to the type and thickness of material being fabricated.
- Assist with the assembly and fitting of fabricated components and structures within the workshop and, where required, at project sites.
- Identify fabrication or welding defects and undertake necessary adjustments, repairs or rework to meet required specifications.
- Maintain welding and fabrication equipment through routine inspection, cleaning and basic maintenance.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including safe handling of welding equipment, gas cylinders, machinery and metal materials.
- Work with other fabrication team members to complete manufacturing, repair and custom fabrication jobs within required production schedules.
Qualifications and other requirements
- Have a Certificate III qualification or higher in welding/fabricating.
- At least 1 year of experience as a welder in the last 5 years, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
- Knowledge of metal properties, welding quality control, and industry standards.
- Good physical condition and stamina to work in a fast-paced workplace.
- Strong safety focus and understanding of relevant health and safety regulations.
Salary range: $75,000 – $85,000
