NB Trades and Services is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis in Toowoomba, QLD. This is a pivotal position within our technical operations, where you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems for our diverse clientele. As a Refrigeration Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of cooling systems across commercial and industrial applications, directly contributing to our reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair refrigeration and air conditioning systems for commercial and industrial clients with a large focus on Supermarkets and large cold store environments
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in cooling systems using specialised diagnostic equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing to ensure optimal system performance
- Conduct system inspections and provide detailed reports to clients regarding system condition and recommendations
- Test refrigeration systems for leaks, pressure levels, and overall functionality
- Replace faulty components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and refrigerant lines
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and environmental standards when handling refrigerants
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed and materials used
- Liaise with clients to understand their cooling requirements and provide technical advice
- Respond promptly to emergency repair calls and provide out-of-hours support when required
What we're looking for
- Trade qualification or certification in refrigeration and air conditioning (such as Certificate III or IV in Refrigeration)
- Minimum of 3-5 years' hands-on experience in refrigeration and air conditioning installation and repair
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration principles, thermodynamics,
and electrical systems
- Proficiency in using diagnostic and testing equipment specific to refrigeration systems
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work independently and make sound technical decisions
- Valid Australian driving licence and access to reliable transport
- Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces and at heights if required
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach to customer interactions
- Willingness to undertake ongoing career development and stay current with industry developments
- Preferred: Experience with commercial kitchen refrigeration, industrial cold storage systems, or vehicle air conditioning
