An established manufacturing business is looking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join its site-based maintenance team.
This is a hands-on position focused on keeping production equipment running safely and reliably through a mix of breakdown response, preventative maintenance, fault-finding and continuous improvement .
It would suit a trade-qualified fitter who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in solving problems properly rather than applying short-term fixes.
The Role Working as part of the maintenance team, your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to breakdowns across production and processing equipment
- Carrying out preventative and planned maintenance activities
- Mechanical fault-finding and repairs
- Working on conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, motors, bearings and pneumatic systems
- Completing equipment inspections and identifying potential failures
- Assisting with plant upgrades, installations and improvement projects
- Supporting production teams to minimise downtime
- Completing maintenance records and job documentation
- Maintaining high safety, housekeeping and quality standardsWorking closely with electricians, operators and other maintenance personnel
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and plant performance

About You To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Mechanical Trade Qualification / Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade
- Previous experience in a maintenance fitter position
- Experience within manufacturing, food, packaging, FMCG, industrial or similar environments
- Strong mechanical fault-finding ability
- Experience with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings and pneumatic equipment
- Good understanding of preventative maintenance practices
- Strong commitment to workplace safety
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
Experience within a high-speed production or automated manufacturing environment would be highly regarded.
