About You :
Essential
- Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade, Fitting and Machining, Mechanical Fitting or equivalent recognised trade qualification.
Desirable
- Hydraulic and pneumatic training.
- Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry and Gas Test Atmospheres training.
- Forklift, EWP, dogging, rigging, crane or other High Risk Work Licences relevant to duties.
- First Aid Certificate.
Position Summary :
The purpose of the Mechanical Fitter role is to safely install, maintain, overhaul, repair, align, test and commission mechanical equipment, fixed plant, mobile plant components and mechanical assemblies in accordance with drawings, specifications and client requirements. This position plays a key role in maintaining productivity, safety compliance, workmanship standards, and effective communication between workshop personnel and management while complying with the organisation's Integrated Management System (IMS), including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements.
Key Requirements :
- Minimum 3-5 years' post-trade experience in mechanical fitting, plant maintenance, manufacturing, mining services, shutdowns or industrial maintenance is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with installation, repair and maintenance of fixed plant,
mechanical equipment and mechanical assemblies.
- Experience completing breakdown repairs, preventative maintenance and commissioning activities.
- Experience working from drawings, maintenance plans, permits and client work packs.
- Mining, heavy industry or workshop rebuild experience is highly desirable.
Job Responsibility :
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, specifications, job cards and maintenance work instructions.
- Install, strip, inspect, repair, assemble, align, test and commission mechanical equipment and assemblies.
- Diagnose mechanical faults, wear, misalignment, vibration, lubrication and component failure issues.
- Maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, valves, hydraulic components, pneumatic systems and related equipment within competency.
- Use precision measuring tools, alignment equipment, torque tools, lifting equipment and mechanical tooling correctly.
- Complete preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, refurbishments and shutdown tasks in line with schedule requirements.
- Verify completed work through inspections, functional checks and quality documentation.
- Maintain safe isolation, stored-energy controls, housekeeping and tool control during all activities.
- Communicate technical issues, parts requirements, delays and safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
- Support apprentices, labourers and other trades through safe and efficient work practices.
