The Computer Network and Systems Engineer is a Level 1/Level 2 technical role within Sharp EIT's IT Managed Services Provider (MSP) workplace, responsible for supporting, administering and maintaining client network and systems infrastructure across multiple managed environments. This role plays an important part in keeping client networks, servers, cloud services and end-user environments secure, stable and performing to agreed service levels. The position provides hands‑on technical support to clients via the service desk, assists with infrastructure projects and onboarding activities, and escalates complex or unresolved issues to senior engineers. It requires solid technical fundamentals, strong customer service, clear communication and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, SLA‑driven MSP environment.

Key responsibilities

Assist with the deployment, configuration and maintenance of client LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi and VPN environments, including firewalls, routers, switches and wireless access points

Support network configuration tasks such as VLANs, DHCP, DNS and site‑to‑site and remote‑access VPN connectivity under the guidance of senior engineers

Liaise with ISPs and carriers on service faults, provisioning and restoration, and keep clients informed of progress

Monitor network availability and performance using monitoring tools, and raise or action alerts promptly

Provide support for Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file and print services

Assist with the administration of virtualised environments (e.g. Hyper‑V, VMware), including routine patching and health checks

Support Microsoft 365 tenants, including Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, Teams,



SharePoint and OneDrive

Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to multiple managed clients via phone, email, remote tools and ticketing systems

Assist with infrastructure, network, migration and onboarding projects for new and existing clients

Create and maintain accurate network documentation, configuration records, runbooks and standard operating procedures to MSP standards

About you

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills

Highly organised, able to manage multiple clients and priorities concurrently

Strong attention to detail, particularly in configuration, change control and documentation

Customer‑focused with a professional, service‑oriented approach

Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining technical concepts to non‑technical users

Able to work effectively in an SLA‑driven MSP environment

Proactive, adaptable and willing to learn across a broad range of technologies

Collaborative team player, open to feedback and guidance from senior engineers

Bachelor or higher qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related disciplineor else 5 years of full‑time relevant work experience in lieu of a formal qualification.

Industry certifications such as Microsoft (e.g. Microsoft 365 Fundamentals/Administrator, Azure Fundamentals), CompTIA (A+, Network+) or similar (desirable)

At least 1 year of full‑time work experience in network engineering or IT
