Department Lead – Dairy

Full-Time | 38 hours per week

We’re looking for aDepartment Lead – Dairy to join our team at The Happy Apple Ascot Vale.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll take ownership of ourDairy, Chilled Meat & Freezer departments from what’s on the shelf, to what’s on order, to how the team delivers the experience.

What you’ll be up to

- Keep the department fresh, full, organised and looking fantastic

- Manage ordering, stock, ranging, and promotions

- Keep a close eye on sales, margin, and waste

- Build great relationships with our suppliers

- Champion FIFO, food safety, temperature control, and compliance

- Use data and customer insights to find ways to make the department even better

- Work closely with Store Leadership and our Buying Team

- Create a positive, accountable and fun team environment

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced retail leader whoknows your stuff,



loves food and genuinely enjoys working with people. Ideally, you’ll have:

- 2+ years' retail leadership or management experience

- Dairy or fresh food experience (a big plus!)

- Strong product and food safety knowledge

- Experience with ordering, stock control, and merchandising

- Commercial nous - you know your sales, margin, and waste

- The confidence to lead, coach and hold a team accountable

- A hands-on, can-do attitude

- Food Safety Supervisor certification is preferred but not essential.
