Saltair manages all project stages in-house, from concept design, reports, and detailed planning to building approvals, construction, and turnkey certification. As a Procurement Officer, you’ll be supported by a skilled and experienced team to help you quickly get up to speed with our streamlined systems and processes.
About the Role
As the Procurement Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining the quality standards that have earned us our awards. Your responsibilities include:
- Reviewing project designs and specifications to ensure projects are costed effectively
- Preparing project specific scopes of works and detailed material take-offs
- Coordinating competitive tender processes and evaluating supplier and subcontractor submissions
- Negotiating commercial terms and awarding packages within approved budgets
- Developing strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants and internal stakeholders
- Identifying alternative products, suppliers and construction methods that improve value and efficiency
- Strengthening the supply chain through market research and new supplier engagement
- Working closely with the estimating and project teams to capture cost savings, overruns and lessons learned for future tenders
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate;
- At least three years’ procurement experience within the preferably within the construction or manufacturing industries
- Experience preparing accurate construction take-offs and procurement packages
- Ability to obtain, evaluate and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Robust commercial negotiation and supplier relationship-management skills
- Passionate and self-driven to look for cost efficiencies and alternative procurement solutions
- Ability to manage procurement activities across multiple projects and competing priorities
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and communication skills
- Experience with estimating, contract administration or modular construction is desirable
- Experience using CostX or Premier Accounting software is advantageous
