Join RoadTek as an Environmental Officer and help support the compliant and sustainable delivery of road construction and maintenance projects across Queensland. Provide specialist environmental advice, undertake audits, support environmental management systems and training, and work with teams and stakeholders to achieve practical environmental outcomes.
Your work location is negotiable across RoadTek offices in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Warwick, Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast or Brisbane. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical and specialist environmental advice on legislation, compliance, approvals and environmental management during project delivery.
- Reviewing Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), environmental reports and relevant permits and approvals.
- Undertaking environmental audits across projects and depots to support compliance with environmental management plans, legislation, contractual requirements and RoadTek's certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of RoadTek's Environmental Management System.
- Delivering internal environmental training across diverse locations and teams.
- Supporting RoadTek staff delivering road construction and maintenance contracts to meet environmental obligations.
- Building effective relationships with environmental officers,
internal teams, external stakeholders and relevant agencies.
- Working collaboratively on environmental and cultural heritage matters to support consistent outcomes across Queensland.
About you: You will bring sound knowledge of environmental and cultural heritage legislation, contractual obligations and Environmental Management System requirements. Analysis of environmental and project information, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing practical solutions will be key aspects. Communication with a wide range of stakeholders is also essential.
A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution and a Class C driver licence are mandatory. Environmental auditing qualifications or experience, and training and assessment qualifications or relevant training delivery experience, are desirable.
This is a permanent, full-time role with frequent short-period travel across Queensland. Please indicate your location preference for this role on your application.
