You will work across a varied portfolio of individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts and other business clients, providing taxation and compliance services and communicating directly with clients. You will be responsible for a range of clients and need to be comfortable managing your workload and completing work independently, while still having support from senior accountants when required.
Key responsibilities
Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for individuals and entities in Xero Practise Manager
Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS and other compliance obligations
Complete reconciliations, workpapers and supporting schedules
Assist with tax planning and general taxation matters
Liaise directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
Liaise with the ATO and other relevant authorities where required
Manage deadlines and workflow across your allocated clients
Maintain accurate client records and documentation
Work with senior accountants on more complex taxation and advisory matters
Assist with client onboarding and general practice workflow as required
About you
At least 2–3 years of Australian public practice accounting experience
An accounting degree or relevant tertiary qualification
Good working knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting requirements
Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across a range of entity types
Experience preparing BAS and IAS
Robust reconciliation and workpaper preparation skills
Experience using accounting software such as Xero and MYOB
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Confidence communicating directly with clients
Good organisational and time-management skills
Strong attention to detail
The ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines and take ownership of allocated client work
CA/CPA studies or a desire to undertake further professional qualifications will be viewed favourably.
