NAFFCO Australia Pty Ltd is among the world’s leading suppliers of fire and life safety solutions. We are looking for a full-time Production Control Engineer to join our team in New South Wales. The Production Control Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating and tracking pipe fabrication projects to meet standards, quality, cost and delivery targets. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in pipe fabrication and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities
- Production Planning & Scheduling – Ensure timely execution of production schedules based on project deadlines and resource availability
- Quality Control – Oversee compliance with fabrication standards, specifications, and welding codes
- Material & Equipment Coordination – Coordinate materials and equipment to optimize productivity
- Safety & Compliance – Ensure adherence to WHS/OHS standards
- Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities to enhance productivity, efficiency and improve processes
Key Responsibilities
Operational Planning & Coordination:
- Plan and coordinate daily pipe fabrication activities across cutting, welding, fitting, and assembly to optimize production efficiency
- Ensure production targets are met having regard to schedule, cost, quality and engineering requirements
- Optimize labor and material utilization to improve production efficiency
- Provide technical direction and training on machine operation, required engineering standards and production procedures
- Ensure compliance with engineering specifications and standards
- Monitor material usage and coordinate with procurement for timely inventory replenishment
- Troubleshoot technical and production issues; implement solutions efficiently and effectively
- Coordinate the operation and maintenance of equipment, machinery and automated production systems,
including schedules of operation for all automatic and manual production equipment
- Inspect pipe fabrication equipment and production processes to identify issues and maintain optimal performance and quality
- Coordinate fabrication delivery with customer and dispatch teams
Quality Assurance & Standards:
- Implement all required engineering standards and policies
- Inspect and ensure all fabricated pipework meets required standards, engineering drawings and project specifications
- Collaborate with the QA/QC team to resolve non-conformances and implement corrective actions
- Conduct inspections and maintain quality documentation and traceability
Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Follow site safety procedures, use PPE, and adhere to SWMS/JSA protocols
- Report on incidents and near-misses, contributing to preventative measures
- Maintain compliance with industry standards, codes of practice, and regulatory requirements
Reporting & Administration:
- Track, report and analyze key production metrics (output, downtime, scrap rates, rework)
- Maintain accurate production records, job tracking, and time sheets
- Participate in production meetings and communicate production performance, technical issues and progress to stakeholders
Skills, qualifications and experience required
- At least 1 year of full time work experience
- Sound understanding of welding techniques, materials (e.g. carbon steel, stainless steel), and fabrication processes
- Familiarity with engineering standards, piping codes and fabrication requirements
- Strong knowledge of reading and interpreting piping isometric drawings and fabrication specifications
- Proficiency in production planning tools and reporting systems (ERP/MRP systems preferred)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
The salary for this position is $79,500 per annum plus superannuation.
