Are you an experienced Payroll Specialist with a passion for projects?

Join a well-established community-focused organisation undergoing a significant payroll systems transition. This is an opportunity to join a supportive finance function and play a key role in strengthening payroll capability and systems.

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to take ownership of a fortnightly payroll function supporting employees within a not-for-profit social care service provider.

The role has a strong technical focus, with SCHADS Award interpretation, payroll compliance and system implementation at its core. You will also play a key role in the transition from TechnologyOne to Employment Hero, ensuring payroll rules, processes and data requirements are accurately carried across ahead of go-live.

This is a 6-month fixed-term position, commencing ASAP, with potential for extension or permanency.

Key responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing and reconciliation
- Apply SCHADS Award provisions across overtime, allowances and employee conditions
- Review and validate timesheets,



payroll inputs and exceptions
- Complete payroll and superannuation reconciliations
- Resolve complex payroll queries and provide technical advice to managers and executives
- Lead the Employment Hero implementation, including process validation, testing and transition from the existing system
- Train and educate managers and Executive staff in the application of Employment Hero
- Develop payroll procedures and practical guidance for managers
- Provide technical support and mentoring to Accounting Officers
- Identify payroll risks, discrepancies and process improvement opportunities

About you

- Demonstrated end-to-end payroll experience
- Strong SCHADS Award interpretation capability
- Employment Hero experience essential
- Experience managing complex payroll calculations, allowances and overtime
- Strong reconciliation and payroll compliance skills
- Experience with payroll system implementation or process transformation
- Excellent stakeholder communication and the ability to translate payroll requirements for non-payroll stakeholders
- Confidence working autonomously and taking ownership of a payroll function

This role would suit a senior Payroll Officer or Payroll Specialist who wants to combine technical payroll expertise with systems implementation and process improvement.
