Job Title: Full-Time Motor Mechanic
Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation
Duties:
- Inspect, diagnose, service and repair petrol and diesel light motor vehicles across a range of makes and models, identifying faults affecting vehicle performance, reliability and safety.
- Perform mechanical inspections of engines, transmissions, clutches, driveline components, steering, suspension, braking and cooling systems to identify wear, damage and repair requirements.
- Use manufacturer service information, repair manuals, computerised diagnostic scan tools and electrical testing equipment to diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
- Interpret diagnostic trouble codes and carry out systematic testing to identify the underlying causes of engine performance, drivability, engine management and other vehicle system faults.
- Carry out scheduled logbook servicing in accordance with manufacturer specifications, including oil and filter changes, fluid checks, lubrication, tyre rotation and vehicle safety inspections.
- Diagnose and repair braking, steering and suspension faults, including replacing worn or defective brake components, suspension components, wheel bearings and related parts.
- Diagnose cooling-system faults and repair or replace radiators, water pumps, hoses, belts and associated components as required.
- Remove, dismantle, inspect, repair or replace defective engine, transmission, clutch and driveline components, and reassemble and adjust systems to manufacturer specifications.
- Diagnose starting, charging and associated electrical faults, and repair or replace alternators, starter motors, sensors and related components as required.
- Perform tyre removal and replacement, wheel balancing and tyre rotation, and inspect tyres and wheels for wear, damage and safety concerns.
- Conduct post-repair inspections, functional testing and road tests, where authorised, to confirm that faults have been rectified and vehicle systems operate correctly and safely.
- Maintain accurate job cards and service records detailing diagnostic findings, work completed and parts used, and communicate further repair requirements to workshop management and customers as required.
- Follow manufacturer requirements for installation, adjustment and tightening torques, and maintain a secure, clean and organised workshop while using hoists, tools, diagnostic equipment and machinery.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- Minimum Cert IV in the related files
- Minimum 1 years of relevant hands-on motor mechanic experience in an automotive workshop.
- Practical experience in servicing and repairing petrol and diesel light vehicles.
- Reliable and a dedicated person with drive and energy
- Strong fault-finding skills and experience using Launch or equivalent diagnostic scan tools.
- Competence in engine and drivetrain repairs and brake, steering and suspension systems.
- Ability to interpret manufacturer specifications and technical information and complete work accurately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritise allocated jobs and communicate effectively.
- Commitment to safe work practices, attention to detail and reliable workmanship.
- Hold, or be eligible to obtain, any motor vehicle repairer tradesperson certification required for the work in the relevant state or territory.
