We are seeking a Registered Midwife to join Savior Pty Ltd in Melbourne, VIC. This is a contract position that offers a flexible opportunity to contribute your expertise in midwifery care within a dynamic healthcare environment. As a Registered Midwife, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, evidence-based care to women and their families during pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period. This position is integral to our commitment to delivering exceptional maternity services and supporting positive birth outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive midwifery care to women across the pregnancy continuum, including antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care
- Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualised care plans based on evidence-based practice and clinical guidelines
- Support women and their families through labour and birth, ensuring dignity, privacy and informed choice
- Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing during pregnancy and labour, identifying and responding appropriately to any complications or concerns
- Provide education and support to women and families regarding pregnancy, birth preparation, newborn care and breastfeeding
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and legislative requirements
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care and optimal outcomes
- Contribute to a culture of safety and quality improvement within the maternity service
- Recognise and escalat any concerns or deviations from normal pregnancy or birth to appropriate medical staff
What we’re looking for
- Current registration as a Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated knowledge of midwifery practice, pregnancy physiology and labour management
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills with the ability to recognise complications and escalat appropriately
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with women and families
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy clinical environment
- Current CPR certification and willingness to maintain career development requirements
- Experience in antenatal, intrapartum or postnatal care settings is highly desirable
- Experience working in hospital or community-based maternity services is advantageous
