APS5 & APS6 Investigations Officers | Financial & Regulatory Investigations

Bluefin Resources is recruiting multiple APS5 Investigations Officers and APS6 Senior Investigations Officers for a major Commonwealth Government regulatory function.

These aren't purely traditional investigations positions.

The work sits at the intersection of financial information, regulation, intelligence, risk and investigations , making these opportunities particularly relevant to candidates who know how to follow the evidence, interrogate information and identify when something doesn't add up.

What you'll be investigating

You will gather, analyse and document information relating to potential regulatory non-compliance.
This can involve reviewing documents and financial information, identifying gaps and inconsistencies, analysing data and intelligence to identify higher-risk behaviours or entities, and determining where further investigation may be required.

You'll contribute to investigation briefs, reports and correspondence that need to be accurate, evidence-based and capable of standing up to scrutiny.
At APS6 level , you'll take greater ownership of complex, risk-based investigations, exercise independent judgement and provide guidance to junior team members.

We want to hear from people with backgrounds in:

- Regulatory investigations
- Fraud and financial crime
- Forensic accounting
- External/internal audit
- AML/CTF and financial services compliance
- Intelligence and data analysis
- Law enforcement
- Integrity and misconduct investigations
- Government investigations
- Financial analysis and assurance

We're also interested in accountants and auditors with an investigative mindset .

If your work involves following transactions, testing evidence, identifying unusual activity, investigating discrepancies, reviewing financial records or determining the underlying cause of an anomaly, you may have more transferable investigations experience than you realise.

What will make you stand out?

You'll be naturally curious and comfortable asking "why?" when the evidence doesn't make sense.
You'll know how to work through large or complex amounts of information, separate fact from assumption, identify patterns and inconsistencies and document your findings clearly.

Strong written communication is important. Your conclusions and recommendations need to be supported by evidence and able to withstand scrutiny.
For the APS6 Senior Investigations Officer opportunity, we're particularly interested in candidates who have independently managed complex investigations or regulatory matters and can provide guidance, quality assurance or coaching to others.

A Certificate IV in Government Investigations (PSP40416) is highly regarded, but candidates with strong transferable investigations experience are also encouraged to apply.
