Are you an experienced procurement professional with a passion for leadership, continuous improvement, and delivering exceptional customer service? Mackay Regional Council is seeking a motivated and capable Procurement Operations Supervisor to lead our Procurement Operations team and help drive efficient, compliant, and value-focused procurement outcomes across Council.
As a key member of the Procurement team, you'll provide leadership, mentoring and operational guidance while ensuring procurement activities are delivered in accordance with Council's Procurement Policy, legislative requirements, and best practice principles.
About the Role
Reporting to the Coordinator Purchasing & Accounts Payable, you will lead a team of Procurement Officers and work collaboratively with stakeholders across Council to support procurement operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Lead, mentor and develop a multi-skilled Procurement Operations team.
- Foster a positive workplace culture focused on safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement.
- Provide procurement advice and support to internal stakeholders.
- Assist with strategic and operational planning, workforce planning and business improvement initiatives.
- Monitor procurement processes and purchase order activities to ensure compliance with Council policies and procedures.
- Promote efficient procurement practices and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors and internal customers.
- Support the ongoing development and improvement of procurement systems and processes.
About You
To be successful in this position, you will have:
Essential Qualifications
- Qualification in Business, Business Management or a related discipline, including:
- Degree with extensive relevant experience; or
- Certificate IV in Purchasing or relevant industry-recognised training; or
- Equivalent combination of skills, knowledge and extensive relevant experience.
- Current Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.
- Willingness to undertake a Criminal History Check.
- Significant experience purchasing goods and services within a multi-industry organisation.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams.
- Strong experience building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
- Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures and business improvement initiatives.
- Experience leading change management activities.
- Commitment to fostering a safe, healthy and supportive workplace environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience preparing reports and business cases.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and corporate systems.
- Ability to negotiate outcomes, resolve complex issues and manage competing priorities.
- Proven capability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
