WesTrac's Mt Thorley Rebuilds Workshop is seeking experienced Plant Mechanics, Heavy Diesel Mechanics and Mobile Plant Mechanics to join our growing team delivering complete Caterpillar machine rebuilds to world‑class OEM standards.

This is a rare prospect to work on some of the largest mining machines in Australia while enjoying the stability and comfort of a modern workshop environment.

Forget FIFO, DIDO, site travel, breakdown callouts and spending your shift out in the pit. You'll be based at our Mt Thorley Rebuild Centre, working on major machine rebuilds from strip-down through to commissioning alongside an experienced team of CAT specialists.

What You'll Do

- Complete major rebuilds and overhauls of Caterpillar mining and construction equipment
- Strip, inspect, repair and reassemble major machine components
- Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic and powertrain systems
- Perform troubleshooting throughout rebuild and commissioning activities
- Complete inspections and quality checks to OEM standards
- Ensure machines are delivered safely, reliably and ready for operation
- Work closely with Supervisors and fellow tradespeople to meet rebuild schedules and quality expectations

What You'll Bring

You will hold an Australian recognised trade qualification in one of the following:

- Mobile Plant Technology




- Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Agricultural Mechanical Technology
- Equivalent diesel or heavy mechanical trade

You will also have:

- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience working on heavy mobile equipment, mining equipment, earthmoving machinery or heavy vehicles
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
- Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence
