About You
As a Teacher Librarian,
you will inspire students through engaging, student-centered teaching within a Catholic learning environment. The Teacher Librarian oversees the College Library, promoting reading, literacy and engagement with learning. This includes maintaining collections that are suitable for secondary students to broaden their exposure to literature, culture and history.
As a teacher, the librarian will teach and facilitate opportunities for deep reading, develop comprehension skills and suggest appropriate texts based upon a student’s interest, age and ability. The Teacher Librarian also leads a team of support staff to ensure the administration of the library is effectively operated. The Teacher Librarian will provide a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment, encouraging staff and students to access the space to research, study and deepen their love of learning.
To excel in this role, you will be able to:

- recognised NESA academic qualifications to teach (teaching is included in a Teacher-Librarian role)
- demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contemporary pedagogical practices
- create and implement engaging,
rigorous planned learning experiences catering to the diverse needs of students
- demonstrate excellent classroom management skills focused on student well-being
- integrate technology to enhance contemporary learning experiences
- interpersonal skills with parents, students and staff
- demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team, especially in a job share role
- leading the day-to-day operation and development of the College's library services
- managing library staff, budgets, resources and systems
- maintaining welcoming and engaging library spaces for students and staff
- overseeing the selection, purchasing, cataloguing and organisation of print and digital resources
- collaborating with teaching staff to support curriculum delivery and student learning
- promoting reading, literacy, research skills and responsible use of information.
- coordinating library programs and events
- supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College through the availability of resources and materials in the Library, and interaction with staff and students alike
- supporting teachers in access to resources, digital and otherwise, to enhance the curriculum in each subject area
- work closely with students accessing the library as a ‘study’ facility, to assist in their engagement and focus.
Working With Children Check (WWCC)
This role is classified as child-related work and therefore requires a WWCC clearance prior to commencement of employment.
