Oxley HVACR is seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Engineer – HVACR to join our Sydney team based in Prestons.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HVACR estimator, or an engineering technically minded HVACR professional looking to take the next step into estimating.

Working closely with our Project Managers, Engineers, suppliers management team, as well as our other offices, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates, tenders, job quotes across and engineering support across a diverse range of commercial and industrial HVACR projects for Sydney and NSW regional areas.

About the Role

The Estimator / Project Engineer will provide estimation, tendering, job quotes, engineering, and project support across a range of commercial, industrial HVAC & Refrigeration and mechanical services projects.

Primarily office-based tendering and engineering role, this role will also have site involvement, making this an ideal position for someone who enjoys seeing projects come together in the field.

Key Responsibilities

- Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and project scopes
- Prepare accurate and competitive HVACR estimates and quotations
- Provide engineering and technical support throughout the project lifecycle
- Complete material and equipment take-offs
- Develop labour and installation cost estimates
- Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Review equipment selections and technical requirements for submissions.
- Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions and opportunities
- Prepare detailed tender submissions and supporting documentation
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors as required




- Attend site inspections, site measures and tender or project meetings where required
- Follow up submitted quotations and tender opportunities
- Assist with value engineering and alternative solutions where appropriate
- Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing informationWork closely with Project Managers and Engineers during project handover
- Assist with maintaining estimating procedures, systems and databases
- Ensure estimates are prepared accurately and within required tender deadlines

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of HVACR systems and commercial/industrial project delivery.

You will ideally have:

- Seasoned experience in HVACR estimating and tender submissions
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial air conditioning, mechanical and refrigeration including Industrial services
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and plans
- Ability use and research tenders using available tender databases.
- Experience completing material take-offs and project costing
- Understanding of labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Proactive mindset to ensure forecasted work
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders, priorities and deadlines
- Robust written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence communicating with suppliers, subcontractors, clients and internal teams
- Excellent computer skills and confidence working with estimating and project management systems
- Current driver's licence
