Heavy Diesel Mechanic | Workshop & Field Service
Heavy Diesel Specialists is a locally owned and operated plant and heavy vehicle maintenance company based in Maitland/Rutherford NSW. Due to strong business growth, we are seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join our motivated and dynamic team in a permanent, full-time capacity.
We deliver high-quality mechanical services across a broad range of diesel-powered machinery, heavy on-highway transport, and mobile plant. If you take pride in your work, passionate about mechanics and want to join a supportive and positive team environment, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Working across both our centrally located Rutherford workshop and field service sites, your primary duties will include:
Performing servicing, diagnostic troubleshooting, fault-finding, and repairs on heavy on-highway vehicles (trucks, trailers, B-doubles, bogie axle vehicles) as well as fixed & mobile plant and mining equipment.
Overhauling and rebuilding major mechanical components.
Maintaining precise service logs, maintenance records, and job documentation.
Assisting with the guidance and mentorship of apprentices.

About you
Qualifications: Relevant Trade Qualification (Heavy Commercial Vehicle / Mobile Plant Mechanics) and MVRIC licence.
Experience: Minimum 5 years post-trade experience working on heavy vehicles and plant equipment.
Technical Skills: Strong diagnostic skills, mechanical knowledge, auto electrical knowledge and attention to detail.
Licences & Cards: Current Driver’s Licence required; HR or HC licence highly regarded. White Card and relevant operating tickets.
Personal Attributes: Strong work ethic, reliable team player, positive attitude, safety-first mindset, and effective communication skills.
Equipment & Requirements: Own hand tools and reliable personal transport.
Must pass a pre-employment and random site Drug & Alcohol screening.
