The Position
We are seeking a Compliance Officer who will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of the College’s compliance framework to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and ethical standards. The role supports risk management activities, conducts compliance reviews, and promotes a strong culture of integrity and accountability. The role works in partnership with Early Years leaders and Children's Services team, to review, refine and monitor compliance systems.
The successful candidate will work 4 days per week with the flexibility to work during school term time or a full year with four weeks of annual leave.
This is an ongoing, part-time role, commencing January 2027.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Principal,
Director of Business and Heads of Early Learning Centre / Bialik Children’s Centre to ensure the College’s compliance framework complies with statutory and other requirements relating to work health and safety, children’s services, duty of care and other legislative requirements.
- Maintain necessary and up to date knowledge in relevant fields and keep in contact with developments in legislation, technical and other guidance material which relates to health and safety within the College’s existing or proposed activities.
- Ensure central compliance registers are maintained and prepare data analysis and reporting for relevant committees to support governance, compliance oversight and continuous improvement of systems and procedures.
- Coordinate the development, revision and maintenance of College policies and procedures, ensure policies align with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain policy review schedules and governance records.
- Ensure appropriate induction, and policies and procedures are in place and that the induction of contractors, visitors and volunteers is undertaken and records maintained.
- Prepare regular compliance and risk reports for relevant College committees
- Monitor updates from relevant regulators, including VRQA, VECRA, ACECQA and the NQF, and assess the impact of regulatory changes, emerging risks and sector guidance on Early Childhood operations.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying gaps in systems, policies, procedures, training, risk controls and documentation, and recommending practical improvements aligned to the National Quality Framework and Child Safe Standards.
- Support compliance with Victorian occupational health and safety legislation and associated regulations, including College’s compliance obligations relating to psychosocial hazards under occupational health and safety legislation.
- Support the Activities Manager and Sports Centre Manager with external audits, develop / enhance systems, templates and procedures that ensure camps and excursions meet risk and compliance frameworks.
- Support HR with audits, accreditation and regulatory requirements and provide advice and support to HR for compliance and governance initiatives.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or proven experience in Law, Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field
- Experience in compliance, risk, audit, legal and/or governance roles
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards
- Experience conducting investigations and compliance review
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Stakeholder management and influencing capability
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
