Our client is a fast-growing South East Melbourne-based food business supplying fresh, chilled and frozen products across multiple channels.

The Role

- Leading a team of approximately 20 operational staff through key supervisors, you’ll oversee warehouse operations, logistics and dispatch, pick & pack, and QA/compliance.
- This is a hands‑on leadership role, but you won’t be expected to spend your days picking orders or working on the warehouse floor. Your focus will be on leading people, improving processes, building better systems and creating a well‑structured operation that runs efficiently without relying on individual key people.
- You’ll work closely with the supervisors to establish clear processes and SOPs, improve accountability and productivity, identify operational issues and make practical improvements that have a real impact on the business.
- Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the way the operation works, develop your leadership team and build a more efficient and scalable business.

The Responsibility

- Lead the end-to-end warehouse and logistics operation, covering raw materials, packaging, finished goods, receivals, storage and dispatch.
- Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through effective cycle-count programs, stocktakes, variance investigations and monthly reconciliation with Finance.




- Ensure materials and packaging are available to production when required, with accurate stock control and efficient movement of goods.
- Drive order fulfilment and dispatch performance, focusing on accuracy, productivity, packaging and labelling compliance.
- Maintain strict cold-chain standards from dispatch through to final customer delivery.
- Build and maintain strong courier and freight partnerships, including rate negotiations, DIFOT performance, delivery tracking, claims and ongoing freight cost optimisation.
- Oversee procurement of packaging, PPE, cleaning supplies and other operational consumables, excluding food ingredients.
- Ensure high standards of safety, compliance and operational discipline, including inductions, incident management, contractor compliance, packaging verification and audit requirements.
- Oversee site services and facilities, including security, cleaning, pest control and general site requirements.
- Establish and maintain preventative maintenance programs for warehouse equipment and facilities.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce costs and support future growth.
- Develop capital expenditure proposals and business cases for equipment,



infrastructure and site improvements.
- Establish robust systems, processes and team capability to create a warehouse and logistics operation that can scale with the business.

The Person

- Strong experience managing a warehouse operation within Food Manufacturing or a similarly fast-paced environment.
- Previous responsibility for leading and developing Warehouse or Logistics teams, with demonstrable experience across performance management, coaching and KPI management.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, materials management and stock accuracy, with the ability to maintain control across multiple stock movements and locations.
- Experience managing warehouse capacity and space constraints, with the ability to plan proactively around changing Production and storage requirements.
- Strong systems capability with previous experience using ERP/MRP and/or Warehouse Management Systems; SAP experience would be highly advantageous.
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and operational data to monitor stock, capacity and warehouse performance.
- Demonstrable experience delivering continuous improvement, improving warehouse processes, efficiency and operational performance.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple operational departments.
