ABOUT THE POSITION

This is a full-time position based at the Senior School campus in Bellevue Hill.

The Director of Studies – Stages 4 and 5 provides academic leadership and oversight of the educational program across Years 7 to 10, working closely with Heads of Department and other academic leaders to strengthen curriculum, assessment, teaching practice, and student achievement. The Director oversees the coherence, sequencing and progression of the Years 7 to 10 program, ensures the School meets NESA requirements, including those associated with the Record of School Achievement (RoSA), and serves as the School’s International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) Coordinator.

The Director also leads the analysis of academic evidence, including NAPLAN, Academic Assessment Services (AAS), NESA Results Analysis Package (RAP) and internal assessment data, working with the Director of Academic Reading and Writing and the Coordinators of Literacy and Numeracy to inform curriculum development, intervention, extension and preparation for Stage 6.

ABOUT YOU

You are a strong academic and curriculum leader with substantial secondary teaching experience, a deep knowledge of the IB Middle Years Programme and NESA Stage 4 and Stage 5 requirements, and a sophisticated understanding of assessment design, validity, reliability, and moderation.

You can interpret academic data and translate evidence into practical curriculum, teaching, extension, and intervention strategies, and you build teacher capability through high-quality professional learning.

You are a collaborative and excellent communicator who works effectively with Heads of Department, students, parents, staff, and external authorities, and who is committed to a culture of academic excellence, respect for diversity and ongoing professional development.
