An opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a progressive and contemporary Chartered Accounting firm.
The practice has evolved from predominantly supporting start-ups to advising an increasingly established and sophisticated client base. Clients are highly diverse and include growing private businesses, professional services firms, retailers, property investors and multinational organisations, with turnovers ranging from approximately $1 million to more than $100 million.
This role would suit a commercially minded accountant who enjoys taking responsibility for clients, managing workflow and developing trusted advisory relationships.
The opportunity
- You will initially support and progressively take responsibility for a client portfolio valued at approximately $400,000K to increase to $600,000 in annual fees over time.
- Managing a varied portfolio of privately owned and multinational clients
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements and income tax returns
- Managing compliance and advisory requirements for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Providing advice concerning Division 7A, Personal Services Income and other business taxation matters
- Supporting clients with tax planning, structuring and general business advice
- Communicating directly with clients and developing strong ongoing relationships
- Managing workflow, deadlines and the delivery of client work
- Liaising on international accounting and taxation matters where required
- Reviewing work processed by the firm's offshore accounting team
- Working closely with the firm's senior leadership and broader accounting team
- Contributing to process improvements and the implementation of new technology
About you
- Approximately five to seven years of Australian public-practice accounting experience
- Strong Business Services and taxation knowledge
- Experience managing clients or leading a portfolio
- Sound knowledge of Division 7A and Personal Services Income provisions
- Experience working with a broad range of entities and client structures
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
- CA or CPA qualifications, or substantial progress toward completion
- A technology-focused and forward-thinking approach
- Experience reviewing or coordinating offshore work would be advantageous
This is a modern and technology-driven boutique Chartered Accounting practice, with 5 staff in Sydney and 3 support staff offshore.
Technology is central to the practice. The firm operates primarily through Xero Tax, Xero Practice Manager and FYI Docs and is currently working on projects involving AI-based tools and further practice automation.
The successful candidate will receive structured support while becoming familiar with the firm, its clients and systems. Office attendance will be required during the initial settling-in period, with access to up to two work-from-home days introduced once established. The ongoing hybrid arrangement will be confirmed following probation.
