Core Responsibilities
The IT Applications Administrator is responsible for the administration, support, maintenance and continual improvement of key enterprise and collection-related business applications. The role works closely with business stakeholders, vendors and technical teams to ensure applications remain secure, available, supported and aligned with business requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Administer, support and continuously improve the departments business application portfolio, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms and associated integrations.
- Act as the technical custodian for designated business applications, including vendor engagement, application configuration, release management, lifecycle planning, operational support, installation, monitoring and maintenance;
- Manage integrations and data flows between business applications, databases, cloud services and enterprise platforms;
- Ensure business applications are maintained in accordance with the Information Security Manual (ISM), Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Memorial security requirements;
- Document software applications and associated support procedures, including the development and maintenance of IT Service Management (ITSM) processes such as standard changes, incident management and problem management;
- Coordinate and oversee application, database and supporting infrastructure upgrades in accordance with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and vendor best practice; and
- Report on progress of operational issues to senior management, end users and stakeholders.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated technical skills with one or more of:
- Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server and database administration;
- Application administration and support;
- Piction or equivalent Digital Asset Management Systems (DAMS);
- MuseumPlus or equivalent Collection Management Systems (CMS);
- PowerShell scripting and automation; and
- Application integration and data migration activities.
- Robust understanding of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services including Microsoft Entra ID, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Storage, Azure Monitor, Azure Key Vault, application integrations, authentication, identity management and security controls.
- Demonstrated experience administering enterprise business applications, including configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, user support, vendor management, and integration with corporate systems.
- Demonstrated experience supporting application integrations using APIs, middleware, ETL processes, automation tools, scripting technologies (e.g. PowerShell), and database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and/or PostgreSQL.
- Experience supporting ICT services within an Australian Government or other highly regulated environment. Includes, demonstrated experience supporting business-critical applications in production environments, including incident, problem, change and release management, disaster recovery, backup services, service restoration, and business continuity activities.
- Demonstrated experience working with business stakeholders, software vendors and service providers to deliver application enhancements, service improvements, upgrades, contract outcomes, and BAU and project workplans while managing competing priorities.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare, review and maintain complex technical and non-technical documentation.
Highly Desirable
- Experience administering and supporting museum, cultural institution or archival systems, including Collection Management Systems (CMS), Digital Asset Management Systems (DAMS), digital preservation platforms and associated integrations in on-premises, Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) environments.
