The opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Customs Broker to join our growing customs team. Reporting to the Customs Manager, you’ll take ownership of clearances, resolve complex customs and biosecurity matters, and help customers make informed decisions before their cargo reaches the border.

You’ll work closely with Customer Operations and Business Development, share your expertise with other brokers and support staff, and help improve the processes that support a growing department. This is a hands‑on role with scope to influence how we work.

What you will do

Prepare, check and lodge accurate import declarations and relevant export declarations using CargoWise One and the Integrated Cargo System.

Apply sound judgement to tariff classification, customs valuation, origin, free trade agreement eligibility, concessions and applicable anti-dumping measures.

Resolve Australian Border Force and Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry queries, holds and directions, keeping customers and internal teams informed.

Review documentation and import requirements early, particularly for first shipments,



regulated goods and seasonal biosecurity measures.

Provide clear customer advice and identify legitimate opportunities for concessions, refunds and duty savings, supported by appropriate evidence.

Mentor colleagues, support quality reviews and help improve customs workflows, CargoWise data quality and automation controls.

What you will bring

A current Australian individual customs broker licence and up-to-date continuing career development obligations.

Substantial experience working as a licensed broker in Australian freight forwarding or customs brokerage, including independent handling of complex matters.

Strong working knowledge of Australian customs and biosecurity requirements, with practical CargoWise One and Integrated Cargo System experience.

Confidence researching technical issues, documenting your reasoning and recognising when to seek further advice or elevate.

Clear communication, a customer service mindset and the ability to explain technical requirements in practical terms.

Careful attention to detail, ownership of your work and calm prioritisation when deadlines or shipment risks change.

A collaborative approach and willingness to coach others and improve how the team works.

Current class 19.1 and 19.2 biosecurity accreditation, experience with BICON, and a track record of mentoring or improving brokerage processes will be highly regarded.
