About us
Cartel Taqueria is modern Mexican, built around a taco you won't find anywhere else. We already trade in Queanbeyan & Belconnen, & our third venue opens on Wason Street, Ulladulla, on Thursday 29 October.
Our kitchen is led by Head Chef Rupert & Sous Chef Kane, & we're after two cooks to complete the opening team.
The role
Cooking on a fast line through lunch & dinner service
Prep, mise en place & stock rotation to our recipes & specs
Keeping the kitchen clean, safe & food safety compliant
Working as one team with the floor
How the week works
We trade Thursday to Sunday, lunch from 12 & dinner from 5, with Wednesday as a prep day. Once we're settled, chefs work four days & get three off.
Through the opening period you'll also be in on Wednesdays while the team finds its feet. From Boxing Day to the end of January we're open seven days with extra staff on, so you need to be around over Christmas & January.
What we're looking for
Experience cooking in a busy kitchen
Quick on your feet & calm when it's flat out
Keen to learn a recent style of cooking & happy to cook to a spec
Available Thursday to Sunday, including nights, weekends & public holidays
Living locally or ready to move to the Ulladulla area
Full working rights in Australia
Nice to have
Cert III in Commercial Cookery
Catering experience
Pay
Full time: $72,000 to $79,000 + super, depending on experience.
Casual: award rates.
We're happy to train the right person. If you're willing to learn, we'll teach you how we do things.
