Disability Support Worker – Reliance Community Services

Reliance Community Services is seeking experienced, passionate and reliable Disability Support Workers to join our team in the ACT. We are looking for people who genuinely enjoy supporting people with disability to build independence, develop skills, participate in the community and achieve their individual goals.
Key responsibilities
- Providing person-centred support based on individual participant needs, preferences and goals
- Supporting participants with daily living activities, community access, social participation and skill development
- Encouraging participant choice, independence and confidence
- Building positive and respectful relationships with participants, families and other members of their support network
- Following participant support plans, risk assessments and organisational procedures
- Completing accurate progress notes and other required documentation
- Identifying changes in participant needs and communicating concerns appropriately
- Maintaining participant dignity, privacy, choice and control
- Taking initiative while working within professional boundaries and organisational procedures
- Working collaboratively as part of the Reliance team
About you
- Previous experience working as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar community services role
- Passionate about supporting people with disability
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Friendly, patient, respectful and empathetic
- Reliable, responsible and able to take initiative
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good skilled judgement and understand appropriate boundaries
- Availability throughout the week, including some weekends
- Flexible with working hours and participant support requirements
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Ability to complete required NDIS worker induction and organisational training
- Right to work in Australia
- Desirable: Certificate III or higher in Individual Support (Disability), Disability, Community Services or a related qualification
- Desirable: Experience supporting NDIS participants
- Desirable: Experience providing community access and capacity-building supports
