About the role
We are seeking a Setter Out to join our team at our Bayswater, VIC location on a full-time basis . As a Setter Out, you will play a crucial role in our carpentry and cabinet making operations, ensuring that all materials and components are accurately prepared and positioned for the manufacturing and installation process. This position is essential to maintaining the precision and quality standards that define our work, and you will contribute directly to the successful delivery of our projects.
Key responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications and work orders with precision and accuracy
- Marking out and setting out materials such as timber, panels and other components in preparation for cutting, machining and assembly
- Measuring and calculating dimensions to ensure all components are cut and prepared to exact specifications
- Checking materials for quality and identifying any defects or issues that may affect the final product
- Liaising with workshop and installation teams to communicate requirements and resolve any setting out queries
- Maintaining accurate records of all setting out work completed and materials used
- Ensuring all work is completed to health and safety standards and company procedures
- Contributing to a productive and cooperative workshop environment
What we’re looking for
- Experience as a Setter Out or in a similar role within carpentry, cabinet making or a related trade
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work to precise measurements and tolerances
- Competence in using setting out tools and equipment such as tape measures, squares, levels and marking gauges
- A solid understanding of materials used in carpentry and cabinet making, including timber grades and properties
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Reliability and a professional approach to work
- A commitment to health and safety standards
- Preferred: Experience with CAD software or digital measurement tools
- Preferred: Completion of relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeships in carpentry or cabinet making
